The EUROGUSS 2020 trade fair from 14–16 January 2020 in Nuremberg, Germany, was very successful. Every two years the fair offers a platform to discuss trends as well as perspectives for the international light metal, die-casting and gravity die-casting industry. 750 exhibitors from 34 countries and visitors from all over the world met at EUROGUSS for intensive exchange and discussions. Also most of the CAEF foundry member associations had a booth or visited the trade fair and took the opportunity for in-person meetings.

This is a positive sign, especially considering the weak industrial economic situation. Foundries have a cautiously optimistic view towards the future. The European industry is in a transition phase with regard to the automotive industry and its suppliers, which will make changes in the foundry industry very likely. In particular, new component areas for electric mobility are interesting fields of action for the die-casting industry. Latest products and innovations were presented to visitors at EUROGUSS.

Overall, the foundry industry seems to be well advised to face the challenges with intelligence and foresight by developing technical solutions and innovations. In addition, new mobility concepts and environmental technology will continue to offer a wide range of opportunities for the casting industry. Some foundries are already preparing for a dynamic future with investment projects.
