Data of unique scope and depth show the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on European foundries. While the European production of non-ferrous metals decreased by 19.2 % overall, the production of iron, nodular iron and steel castings decreased by 19.8 % compared to 2019.
Chiara Danieli is elected CAEF President 2022
Chiara Danieli, CEO of Groupe Bouhyer, was elected as president of CAEF for the upcoming year 2022 at the CAEF Council meeting in Bilbao. She will succeed Ignacio De la Peña, who is holding the position since 2020.

In August the European Foundry Sentiment Indicator (FISI) increased again after a slight dampener in the previous month, although shortages of raw materials and cost explosions on the energy markets put pressure on foundries on the procurement side, while short-time work is increasingly being announced by the automotive industry.

In July the European Foundry Sentiment Indicator (FISI) dropped for the first time since exactly one year. TThis development does not yet represent a clear setback. Nevertheless, in particular the high raw material prices and the still tense situation in logistics as well as the problems in the vehicle construction industry are impacting the sentiment among European foundries.

In June the European Foundry Sentiment Indicator (FISI) continues its recovery for the seventh consecutive month. The driving force behind this positive development is the good assessment of the current business situation. Expectations for the coming six months, meanwhile, did not increase significantly, but remain at a high level.
